We have been offering speech pathology sessions online, also known as tele-practice or tele-health, since 2017. When COVID-19 limited people’s ability to attend face to face sessions, Virtually Speaking transitioned to online tele-health immediately with little to no disruption for most clients. Since 2020 we have all become more familiar with Zoom, which I’ve been using for years due to its quality and security.
Families find this convenient as it can save so much travel time and reduce risks of illness.
In this digital age many people are comfortable with talking to people on the computer. Many of the same resources used in the clinic can be adapted to work digitally.
Telepractice sessions are not covered by private health funds or medicare. For clients with NDIS packages - this is funded through the therapy component of the plan.
